Delhi Belhi is an Indian restaurant. It's in the old town of Nice (Vieux Nice), but it's an Indian. Bear with me though, it's worth it. And don't be put off by the name - clearly the owners have a twisted sense of humour.
Indian food as we know it in the UK isn't Indian food - it's a British interpretation of Indian food from the days of the Raj. Delhi Belhi offers a further hybrid, being a French take on a British take on Indian food. But the menu is a lot less confusing that the definition - everything is there: lime pickle (which is a generous portion, none of these thimble-sized servings); thali (a curious variation with a variety of different dips to try); aloo saag (quite simply the best I or my partner had tasted in our entire lives); vindaloo - the list goes on. The wine menu isn't bad (the Sancerre is good) and the ice-cream is gorgeous.
All this is set into a backdrop that resembles a higgledy-piggledy Indian street: random photographs and advertising material, low lighting, incense and I'm sure I saw a bicycle wheel at some point.
It's well priced, and after a week or so of the same old menus in Nice (let's face it, variety isn't exactly the objective in a lot of restaurants - carpaggio of beef, anyone?) a very welcome change. So if you want a casual meal where the atmosphere and food get 10 out of 10, then give it a try. We even gave it the acid test and went back, and sure enough, it was excellent again.

I agree with the previous reviewer. This is an absolute diamond in the rough - if your travel plans take you to the French Riviera, Delhi Belhi is a "must try". We ate their twice (the first time was on a lark to see how an Indian restaurant in France would work, but the second time was driven by our previous experience). Highly recommended.
PS: Located behind the popular Cours Saleya on a small pedestrian only street (The same street that has the popular Ice Cream shop called Fennochio's)
